Project overview:
The £53m development at Dock 5 will see the construction of 394 private rental apartments, as well as cinema rooms, a waterfront lounge for residents, and a high end, state of the art gym. Dock 5 is an eight storey block, occupying 2.3 acres, and is located just ten minutes away from Media City UK, making this the perfect location for Manchester’s professionals, as well as commuters. The development will also boast a piazza, creating the perfect community space for outdoor relaxation. The first homes are expected to be available for rent in 2021, with the whole project complete by 2023.
Our role in the project:
As part of this project, we will be delivering a durable, long lasting and effective single ply roofing solution, here at Enviroply Roofing, thanks to our industry leading expertise and professional experience.
For the 5,000 square metre flat roof, we will install a Sika Sarnafil single ply roof using a fully adhered installation method to secure the roofing materials. This will provide a high level of security and longevity for the Dock 5 development. The single ply membrane we will install is the G410-18EL membrane. This is made to the highest standard, providing thorough waterproofing, as well as a unique lacquer coating that can resist staining from airborne dirt and pollutants. This offers a high quality visual as well as practical roofing solution, that is extremely flexible in cold temperatures and offers a high resistance to weathering and UV radiation.
The single ply membrane will be combined with a Sarnavap HD felt vapour control layer, as well as high quality tapered SarnaTherm insulation. The tapered insulation will provide the perfect gradient for transporting rainwater off the roof surface, helping to promote longevity, and ease of maintenance. SarnaTherm insulation also offers a very low level of thermal conductivity, which means that the development will be completely thermally efficient, maintaining effective temperature levels all year round.
The completed roof will need minimal maintenance, and will be easy to look after, keeping maintenance costs down too.
