About the project:
Beautiful, sustainable design and affordable housing was the mantra for the development at Seedley in Salford. This saw the creation of 29 homes, available on Shared Ownership, built to a high specification, and with a contemporary design. Each property boasts triple glazed windows, low energy light infused spaces, and air source heat pumps. These homes are situated in a fantastic location with great connections and schools, making it perfect for families.
Our role in the project:
Here at Enviroply Roofing, we installed the Sikaplan single ply roofing systems for the main roof of each property, and the balconies. This involved installing two slightly different systems to meet the requirements and practical considerations for each roof type. We began the installation work on 31/05/2023.
Firstly, we began by installing a light grey Sikaplan® G-15 membrane on the main roof. This was mechanically fixed to the metal roof deck for full stability and coverage, in line with the manufacturer’s guidelines and regulations. This PVC based membrane was a fantastic choice for this development, as it offers a high level of durability and longevity, as well as exceptional wind and UV resistance.
For the balcony roofing systems we installed the Sikaplan® SGmA membrane. This was a great choice for protecting the properties from decay and damage over time, as this synthetic, multi-layer, waterproofing sheet, is made of premium-quality polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with inlay of glass non-woven. As such, it has an exceptional resistance to a range of factors, including micro-organisms, and resists both mechanical and environmental penetration. The membrane itself is developed specifically for use in balconies, which means that these properties can count on long lasting results.
The result at Seedley:
We completed the installation on 13/10/2023. Overall, the installation of the roofing systems on the Seedley development went well, with all parties happy with the outcome. The terms for a 20 year guarantee were achieved.
