About the development at Brackley Street, Farnworth Green

This area of Bolton has recently undergone extensive renovation with retail spaces, cafes and eateries, as well as green spaces, and the construction of 12 new family homes and 82 apartments. The new development also included a new public square for artisan markets, live events, art galleries and pop-ups for foodies, as well as a new park to connect the development to Farnworth Park.

The apartments here have floor to ceiling windows, are furnished to a high standard, and provide access to the residents’ rooftop garden, gym & studio, lounge, co-working space, and also offer local discounts.

Our role in the project:

We were delighted to be working again with Vermont Construction on this development at Brackley Street, here at Enviroply Roofing. As Lancashire’s leading roofing experts, we installed 12 new roofing systems across several different buildings. These included a roof terrace area, a hub, and a plant area. We installed Alumasc roofing systems for the different blocks. This project began on 02/05/2024.

Buildings A to C, the Terrace Lobby, The Hub, and Block E

For this part of the project, the process began with the installation of the Alumasc FF tapered insulation. This is a system of rigid insulation boards that are faced on both sides with composite foil. Renowned for their high level of thermal efficiency, these boards deliver exceptionally low U-values, making them the perfect product for this development.
Once the insulation had been put in place, the Alumasc Alkorplan membrane was mechanically secured. This thermoplastic PVC-P single ply membrane has earned a strong reputation for its robust weatherproofing, UV resistance, and impressive strength, flexibility, and longevity. It also boasts a track record spanning over forty years in both commercial and residential settings.

Terrace roof area

For the terrace roof area, an Alumasc Derbigum roofing system was installed.

The insulation layer consisted of Alumasc FF tapered insulation boards, which were laid over the concrete deck in line with manufacturers requirements. These rigid, square edged boards have composite foil facings on both sides, leading to optimal thermal performance.

To complete the roofing system for the terrace roof area, the Alumasc Derbigum APP modified bitumen membrane was installed. This particular membrane provides outstanding tensile strength and is exceptionally stable across varying weather conditions, making this a high performance alternative to PVC single ply systems. As such, the Derbigum APP membrane is a robust, long lasting, and durable solution for the roof terrace at Brackley Street, Farnworth Green.

The Result

This project was completed on 14/11/2024 The installation was carried out to a high standard, meeting the requirements for a 20 year guarantee.
