Bauder Hot Melt Waterproofing for Commercial & Industrial Roofing

Bauder hot melt waterproofing systems provide a robust and durable solution for protected, inverted and buried roof applications. The system is particularly suited to roofs and structures that will support paving, landscaping, green roofs, blue roofs, podiums, terraces and other finished areas.

At Enviroply Roofing, we install specialist flat roofing and waterproofing systems for commercial and industrial projects across the North West. Our experienced team can advise on the most suitable Bauder hot melt solution for your project, whether for a new build or refurbishment.

What is Bauder Hot Melt Roofing?

Bauder hot melt waterproofing uses a hot-applied, polymer-modified bitumen membrane to create a continuous, fully bonded waterproofing layer.

The Bauder system uses Bakor 790-11 Hot Melt Rubberised Bitumen, which is applied in two layers with polyester reinforcement between them. Once installed, the system forms a monolithic waterproofing membrane with no traditional membrane laps.

The fully bonded construction also helps to limit water migration between the waterproofing and the structural deck, providing an additional level of protection where the waterproofing is beneath other roof finishes.

Bauder Bakor 790-11 Hot Melt

Bakor 790-11 is a hot-applied, rubberised bitumen waterproofing material formulated to provide a monolithic, fully bonded roofing and waterproofing membrane.

It can be used on both horizontal and vertical surfaces within protected roof membrane assemblies, including inverted and cold roof constructions.

Bauder identifies a wide range of applications for the system, including:

  • Inverted roofs
  • Podium decks
  • Terraces
  • Plazas
  • Paved and ballasted roofs
  • Green roofs
  • Blue roofs
  • Biodiverse and brown roofs
  • Biosolar roofs
  • Planters
  • Parking decks
  • Ramps
  • Reflective pools

This flexibility makes hot melt particularly useful on developments where the roof is required to provide more than a conventional weatherproof covering.

Suitable for Inverted and Protected Roofs

Bauder hot melt is particularly suited to inverted and buried roof constructions, where the waterproofing layer is protected beneath the remainder of the roof build-up.

This makes it an effective solution for:

Podium Decks and Terraces

Hot melt waterproofing can be installed beneath paved areas, terraces and other accessible surfaces where the waterproofing needs to withstand the demands of the finished construction above.

Green Roofs

Bauder hot melt systems can be incorporated into a range of green roof constructions, from extensive and biodiverse roofs to intensive green roof areas.

Blue Roofs

The system can also form part of blue roof constructions designed to provide temporary water storage and controlled drainage.

Biosolar Roofs

Bauder hot melt is compatible with biosolar roof applications, allowing waterproofing to form part of a roof that combines biodiversity and renewable energy generation.

Parking Decks and Ramps

The robust nature of the system also makes it suitable for demanding applications such as parking decks and ramps where the waterproofing forms part of a protected structural build-up.

Fully Bonded, Monolithic Waterproofing

One of the key benefits of the Bauder hot melt system is its fully bonded construction.

Bakor 790-11 forms a 100% bond to approved substrates, helping to reduce the risk of water tracking beneath the waterproofing layer. Once the system is complete, it forms a continuous monolithic membrane without traditional laps.

This can provide a particularly robust solution where the waterproofing will be covered by insulation, paving, landscaping or other finishes.

Benefits of Bauder Hot Melt Roofing

The two-layer hot melt system forms a continuous monolithic waterproofing layer without traditional laps, helping to provide reliable protection against water ingress.

Bakor 790-11 is designed to achieve a full bond to approved substrates. This helps to limit water migration between the waterproofing and the deck, even if local damage occurs.

The rubber-modified formulation provides strength and flexibility to accommodate the stresses and strains experienced by the building and roof structure.

Bauder’s current BBA certification states that the system has a service life for the duration of the building when incorporated within the certified construction.

The system can be incorporated beneath a wide range of roof finishes, including paving, ballast, green roofs, blue roofs and biosolar systems.

Hot melt is particularly useful where a roof forms part of a wider development, such as a podium, landscaped terrace, amenity area or other accessible space.

Bauder also provides flame-free detailing methods for its hot melt system.

These are designed to provide safer application techniques close to combustible construction materials, including timber substrates and upstands, cladding, roof tiles and other areas where the use of open flame requires additional consideration.

The appropriate detailing method will depend on the project specification and site conditions.

Bauder hot melt systems can be incorporated into roof designs that provide additional environmental benefits.
The system is compatible with:

• Green roofs
• Biodiverse roofs
• Blue roofs
• Biosolar roofs
• Hard and soft landscaping

This allows the waterproofing system to form part of a wider sustainable roof design rather than simply providing weather protection.
