The Sandpiper development will involve creating 15 new homes and apartments. This is a new build development funded by Homes England for Jigsaw Homes Group. We will be working on Unit 15, and the installation of a new single ply roofing system.
For this roofing project we will be creating a single ply warm roof. The new roof deck will be precast concrete with a bituminous vapour control layer made from modified bituminous felt with suitable reinforcement. On top of this vapour control layer, we will be installing both the insulation layer and the single ply membrane using a fully adhered build up system.
For the insulation layer on Sandpiper, we will be installing tapered Sikatherm PIR GT. This will be bonded to the vapour control layer using Sika C250 spray applied adhesive for maximum coverage and protection long term. This insulation type is tapered to create a very slight gradient on top of the flat roof, which is designed to carry water away from the roof surface. It is also environmentally friendly, with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and low Global Warming Potential (GWP).
To complete the roof build up we will install a Sika Sarnafil Single Ply roofing membrane, specifically the G410-15EL option. This is a 1.5mm thick single ply membrane that can offer a high level of weather protection and water protection, with ultraviolet light stabilizers and flame retardant. This will be adhered to the insulation layer, and hot air welded at the edges and seals for maximum weatherproofing and bonding.
