ABOUT THE PROJECT AT SANDPIPER:
The Sandpiper development involved the construction of 15 new homes and apartments. Financed by Homes England for Jigsaw Homes Group, this new build project aimed to provide modern and sustainable housing solutions. We worked on Unit 15 of the development installing a new single ply roofing system.
OUR ROLE IN THE PROJECT:
Our involvement in the Sandpiper project revolved around the installation of a single ply warm roof for Unit 15. This roofing solution was meticulously planned to ensure longevity, durability, and environmental sustainability.
The roof deck was constructed using precast concrete, providing a robust foundation, with a bituminous vapour control layer, reinforced for added strength.
For the insulation layer we used a Tapered Sikatherm PIR GT insulation, chosen for its thermal performance and environmentally friendly attributes. Bonded using Sika C250 spray applied adhesive, this insulation provided effective water drainage while minimising environmental impact.
To complete the roof build up, we used the Sika Sarnafil G410-15EL single ply membrane, with a thickness of 1.5mm, this was selected to offer excellent weather protection and UV resistance. Its flame-retardant properties ensured enhanced safety; while hot air welding at edges and seals guaranteed a seamless, weatherproof finish.
Outcome:
The successful completion of the Sandpiper development’s roofing project not only contributed to the overall aesthetic appeal of the homes, but also ensured structural integrity and long-term sustainability. Our team delivered a roofing solution that met the needs of the client while upholding the highest industry standards, achieving 20-year manufacturers guarantee.
