About the Project:
This project was to install a new roof for a new build home in Blackpool, Lancashire. We worked to the clients specification and requirements to create a practical and visually impressive new roof.
The challenges:
The roofing project was a tricky one, offering unique challenges. The roof needed some specific details in places, that needed to be installed with care for the best visual results. For this roofing project we needed to install a standing seam, and many of the slopes were on different levels, adding a different challenge to the installation process. However, the challenges were rewarded with a high quality, stunning end result.
The System:
The architect for this project specifically wanted to use Sika Saranfil single ply membrane for the roofing, because of positive experiences with it’s quality and visual appeal. We started with a Sarnavap 500e vapour control barrier. At 0.16mm thick, this polyethylene based vapour control layer stays flexible at low temperatures and offers a high level of water vapour resistance, perfect for residential properties.
For the insulation layer we opted for a 120mm PIR Insulation board offering a high level of thermal insulation.
To complete the roof, we used a Sarnafil G410-ELF Fleeceback Membrane. This offers a long lifespan, double that of some other membranes, which is an important consideration for residential properties. This type of dynamically stable membrane also offers increased durability and a high level of roofing protection.
A standing seam was used between adjacent sheets of the roofing material, giving the appearance of a high quality metal roof.
We used a full adhered system for this roof, ensuring that the roof would thrive in all manner of weather conditions, for a long period of time.
The Result:
At the end of this project:
- Our installation was fully inspected by the manufacturer for the 15 Year guarantee.
- The roof was independently tested by an electronic integrity tester. Both field inspectors were very happy with standard of works.
