About the project:

This development in Eccles, Manchester, involved the construction of a new 12 apartment, 3 storey residential block. This was created using modern methods of construction, with photovoltaic panels for heating, HVAC systems for comfortable temperature maintenance, and air source heat pumps for every apartment.

Our role in the project:

Here at Enviroply Roofing, we installed the Sika single ply roofing system for this development at Bindloss Avenue. The installation began on the 21/11/2023.

The first stage of the roofing development saw the installation of the Vapour Control Layer (VCL). For this, we used the Sarnavap 5000E SA. This is a self adhesive vapour control layer that provides an exceptional level of water vapour resistance, to protect the other components within the roofing system. This is made from multiple layers including foil facing and glass-fibre mat reinforcement, for maximum performance and longevity. In fact, this VCL option is renowned for its long lasting roofing protection and quality. We sealed this VCL with S-Vap jointing tape, in accordance with the guidelines, to the abutment and perimeter of the roof, and at all side and end laps.

Following the vapour control layer, we then installed the insulation layer. For this we used the Tapered Sikatherm® MW (DD) Insulation boards. Faced with a mineral fibre tissue, and bonded to a core of high performance mineral wool during the manufacturing process, these boards were a fantastic choice for this development at Blindloss Avenue. These offer an increased thermal resistance, with a low level of thermal conductivity, while also providing outstanding fire resistance, for maximum security and safety. We mechanically fixed this insulation layer into place in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines.

Finally, we completed the roofing system at Bindloss Avenue with the installation of the Sikaplan G-15 waterproof membrane in lead grey. This polyester reinforced single ply membrane was a great choice for the Blindloss Avenue development, bringing a number of performance benefits, including wind resistance, UV resistance, water and weather resistance, and long lasting durability.

The result at Blindloss Avenue

We completed the roofing installation at Blindloss Avenue on the 15/05/2024, with all parties very happy with the work undertaken, and the requirements for the guarantee met.
