In addition, this type of roof will only need minimal maintenance for the future.

Project Overview:

The Withens is an Extra Care and Affordable Rent dementia project, which will be built on open ground in Stockbridge Village, Knowsley, next to the other  apartments at Roughsedge House. As an Extra Care project, there are certain criteria that need to be met during the design and construction work.
This project will create 90 new homes including 64 Extra Care apartments, of which 5 will be two bedroomed, and 26 new Extra Care bungalows. The development of new communal and support facilities will also be part of this £12m project.

Aiming to bring more, much needed, supported housing for some of the area’s elderly and vulnerable tenants, this project will be crucial for health and social care development into the future. Knowsley Council is expecting significant rise in the numbers of older people living in the area by 2021, with an increase of more than 1,000 residents aged 90 or above. This in turn is placing demands on local services. In fact, the Knowsley Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy feel that the increase in the amount of dementia in the area, is directly related to the ageing population.
