Secured Project Cronton College

We are delighted to again be working with Whitfield and Brown for our second project at Cronton College in Widnes.

Project:           Cronton Sixth Form College

Address:         Cronton Sixth Form College, Cronton lane, Widnes, WA8 5WA

Contractor:    Whitfield and Brown

Roof size:       1075m2

Roof system:  Sika Sarnafil Single Ply Roof, S327-18EL, Tapered PIR Insulation, Sarnavap 500E Vapour control

layer

Installation:    Mechanically fixed

Our role in the project:

For this project we will be creating two new warm roofs for two new buildings at the Cronton College site. Each roof will be identical in construction.

A new roof deck will be made from profiled steel for each roof. These roof decks will be created to suit the span of the purlins and all anticipated loads.

For the vapour control layer we will be using the Sarnavap 500E for its durability, flexibility, and non-decaying nature. This offers a high level of water vapour resistance and is sure to provide top quality moisture and humidity protection for the new buildings. The Sarnavap 500E will have overlapping seams and joints that will be fully sealed.

The next stage of the construction will be the Insulation. For this we will be using Tapered PIR Insulation. This will be laid in a staggered bond pattern with lightly butted joints and fastened with telescopic stainless steel tube fasteners. The tapered level of the insulation will create the perfect gradient for the flat roof to manage the flow of water away from the roof.

Each roof will be completed with a Sika Sarnafil S327-18EL Lead Grey Single Ply Membrane. This is a polyester reinforced, PVC membrane made from multiple layers, which offers a high level of UV and flame resistance, as well as effective weather proofing. The membrane also has a proven performance over decades, which makes it the perfect long-lasting option for Cronton College.
