About the project:
The redevelopment of Stockport’s Buxton Road Co-op will see the existing food store and neighbouring hardware shop demolished to make way for a modern 4,300 sq ft retail unit, offering around 2,600 sq ft of sales space.
This will also include 13 customer parking spaces, featuring electric vehicle charging points and accessible bays, making shopping more convenient. Overall, the project aims to deliver an upgraded, energy-efficient Co-op store that better serves the local community.
Our role in the project:
Here at Enviroply Roofing we will be responsible for installing the Sikplan roofing system for the Coop Buxton Road extension in Stockport. Our work will follow the Sika specification and will deliver long-lasting, high-performance waterproofing, thermal efficiency, and durability.
Air and Vapour Control Layer (AVCL)
We will begin with the AVCL, for which we will be using the Sika S-Vap 5000E SA. This is a self-adhesive membrane that will form a robust air and vapour barrier. It will be fully sealed at laps, upstands, and penetrations to prevent moisture ingress and condensation.
Insulation
Next, we will install insulation to meet the required U-value of 0.18 W/m²K. This will comprise 120 mm Sikatherm® PIR AL insulation boards, mechanically fastened using Sika’s prescribed fasteners and pressure plates to ensure thermal continuity and structural integrity.
Waterproof Membrane
Following insulation, we will apply the single-ply waterproofing membrane, specifically Sarnafil® AT-18 in Basalt Grey. This will be mechanically fixed using the Sarnafast system, providing durable waterproof protection, UV stability, and a life expectancy consistent with the Sika certification.
Detailing
We will complete all detailing and fixings, including upstands, penetrations, and edge trims, using Sika detailing membranes and accessories. Rooflights or other openings will be fitted using approved Sika components, and all edges and joints will be carefully finished to ensure a fully sealed, weatherproof system.
